It's Been A While

Yeah, blame lazyness, not me. Oh, and blame firefox too, i was posting the otherday, and boom, the thing crashed on me while i was writing yet another exciting blog post to share with you, my dear reader. Blame lots of work i didnt finish, blame cold days, blame rainy days, blame my xbox, blame coffee and my stomach who keep hanging me from blogging.

Now, the real news. Easter time is here, got a class-free week for workin on two university projects that ill need to finish until april. Gonna try and code some of my personal projects too, and also, ill try to wake up later and have a nice, decent breakfast (because when you get up at 7am and all you can think is “how good it is here in bed” and then take a 20 minute bath and realize youre gonna be late, youll be skipping breakfast for sure).

As a celebration for the First Night I Can Go To Bed Later and Wont Have To Wake Up Early day, went to bairro alto and had a couple of drinks: super bock As you can see, alcohol can turn your mind to do very disturbing things. Of course i wasnt the one who did this, and you beer-drunk reader who might be thinking this is photoshoped, it isnt, you can do this by folding and joining the words “super” and “bock”. Still on the liquid department, i am now on a coffee diet. As usual, my stomach is feeling a bit depressed, that is, excess coffee and other highly corrosive food. So, as a replacement of caffeeine, i am now switching to Tea.
Being a switcher has its benefits:

  1. doesnt screw up your stomach as coffee does

  2. keeps you up all night too

  3. kills most of the evil life forms living in your body

  4. prevents cancer

  5. tastes good without sugar

  6. no bad breath

So switch with me, do your stomach a favor (unless you didnt have those stupid teenager vodka drinking nights as i did) and safe him from drowning in excess corrosion!

Now, the tech part: Finally installed that iScroll driver on my pbook. It works and feels great. I wonder what else apple will do to prevent a two button mouse, as there are some rumors that they’re working on that Hell Has Frozen Over two button mouse. Well, OSX is pretty usable with a one button trackpad, its just a matter of getting used to it. But then again, if apple wants to have those 5% of the desktop market share, its pretty obvious they need a two buttoned mouse, specially for windows switchers. What about a 3 button mouse for unix-like systems with X windowing system users, who can kill you if then cant paste with the middle button? Yeah, cause two button emulation sucks, and youll end up with a not so cool looking logitech or ms mouse.

One of the things i dont understand is, why on earth will someone update a CVS with non compilable code? I mean, whats the sense? If you cant be able to compile it, how can you help testing it? Its completly different from buggy code, where you can compile it, use it and then hunt for bugs. This has happened to me every single day, when i tried to install a cvs version of the enlightenment17 window manager, as theres no other way getting it yet.

Speaking of code, as i said above, ill try to work on some personal projects, one of these is bla, a broadcast chatting system im developing with some friends at univ. Ill be posting news and will distribute it here, hopefully soon. The main cause i did it, was because most of us at FCUL, cant be all together on the same lab room (cause theres never enough free computers for all of us), and its a drag to use MSN behind that boring squid proxy they use there. So as we simply needed to comunicate, i just did this serverless app that broadcasts messages all over the local network, which seems to work quite flawlessly. Oh yeah and it features shitty xor encryption too, so you can say bad things about those lazy local admins freely and dont get your account “strangely misconfigured” (does the word “misconfigured” exist? sounds appropriate for this anyway). Because its really simple code, ill try to make a Objective-C Cocoa version of it, being part of my long lasting Objcetive-C learning period.

Now ill shutup, otherwise i wont have stuff to blog for a while :)
