Multi-Booting The Intel Mac

Everyone is fussing about running Windows on the intel Mac. Yes, i do believe it will be possible. But why is the world worried about running the OS that seems to be everyone’s favorite little hate? I think the answer to this is: games.

Yeah, everyone dreams about running the latest windows-only FPS on their good looking sweet macs (intel macs running windows that is). Even though it wouldn’t be possible to install Windows (still, i’m sure someone will have success booting it through GRUB), there’s always Linux and its gaming companion: Cedega.

It’s kinda strange thinking about running cedega on linux installed on a Mac. But we now have intel macs, so installing any major linux distribuition will be a piece of cake since GRUB already supports EFI and almost all distros are using GRUB (slackware’s still hooked to lilo i guess). I used to run Grand Theft Auto 3 on my Gentoo Linux box with cedega installed (version 3.x) and it was pretty playable.

The concern about cedega on linux intel Macs would be the the infamous ATI driver support. We all know ATI’s been failling all these years on giving linux a decent accelerated driver for X/X.org (unlike Nvidia) and all those online petitions still didn’t made it any better. Still on the driver department, does anyone know which chip are they using for the wifi cards now? I hope they’re using the same broadcom chip (at least), since theres already some linux support, ’cause starting another petition/reverse engineering project to support a new chip would definitly suck. Let’s wait and see.

Damn, passion fruit liquor is great.
