The Obligatory Macbook Pro Post

Well, here it is.
Too bad they’re already shipping intel iMac’s, since i got mine not too long ago… Anyway, the performance boost seems pretty damn good and it doesn’t look like a nasty marketing trick cause they’re announing SPEC’d benchmarks.

Now, the product name: ‘Macbook Pro’. It’s catchy alright, but i think they could have come with a better name for it, don’t you? It is almost obvious that the 12″ intel powerbook equivalent will be named the ‘Macbook’ once i don’t believe they’re giving up the 12″ on the pro line, or that they’ll rename the iBook line to ‘Macbook’, as the iBook word is so popular.

However, the machine seems awesome: it’s thinner, faster, it’s isighted (i guessed this one), comes with the remote, genially simple safe power connector and all the rest you have already read on their site. But, where the hell is the battery duration? Is it the same? More? I bet it is the same as previous pbooks, cause they don’t even mention it on the site.

Being all great, i think their move on dropping the modem on these machines was a huge mistake. What happens when you go to grannie’s place for the weekend and you need to get online? Unless your grannie has broadband access at home (which is not so probable), using the phone line always works. I think they’re gonna sell lots of those usb modem thingies now.

Did you watch the intel ad? Did i hear something like: “For years, it has been trapped inside PC’s, inside dull little boxes, performing dull little tasks” ?
Oh, the irony.
